Liverpool Midfielder Jordan Anderson has urged teammate Raheem Sterling to follow his lead

Jordan Henderson has urged Raheem Sterling
to follow suit after committing his long-term
future to Liverpool.
The Reds midfielder has signed a five-year
contract to keep him at Anfield until 2020 and
he’s hoping his fellow England international
also puts pen to paper over the coming
months.
Sterling, whose current deal runs until 2017,
recently rejected Liverpool’s latest offer of
£100,000 per week and told boss Brendan
Rodgers that he didn’t want to hold any further
talks until after the end of the season.
That stand-off has sparked fears that
Sterling’s agent is trying to engineer a move
away from the club with speculation linking
him with Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea
and Arsenal.
However, Liverpool have no intention of selling
him this summer and Henderson believes
Anfield is the best place for Sterling to
continue his development.
“I’ve known Raheem for a good few years now.
He is a good friend of mine and my team-
mate,” Henderson said.
“He has just got to do whatever he thinks is
best but, if I was giving him advice, of course I
would say: ‘This is Liverpool’. I think this is the
best place for him’.
“But at the end of the day that decision is up
to him. He is a fantastic player for us.
“I hope he stays here and develops with us. He
will be a big part of what we are looking to do.
“Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho have
committed as well. They have made a
statement because they are two top players. If
we can get a few more done before the end of
the season, I really believe we have got a chance of doing something special.
